Weekend Recap

Well...this weekend didn't end up going quite as we planned, but we made the best of it and managed to enjoy the almost 90 degree weather. Oh yes, only in the midwest can it be 50 degrees one day and 90 the next.

Friday night my in-laws asked to keep the boys. What wild and crazy thing did J and I do? We got in our pjs, ate Chipotle on the couch, and rented The Purge Anarchy. Neither of us really like scary movies, but I guess we were in the Halloween spirit. The whole time I kept thinking and saying out loud what a horrible idea it is to have a national "purging" day where all crime is fair game. Does anyone else talk out loud during scary movies? It helps me feel better:)

Saturday I was up and at em cleaning and organizing our garage. By the end I was sweating, but I'm glad it's done. At least for a little while.

While I was cleaning, I saw this little creature. Remind me to tell you the story of how this thing almost ruined first grade for me.

The boys came home just as I finished the garage so we all played outside (and they dragged out every outdoor toy I had just organized and put away) while daddy mowed.

Have you all tried this cracked black pepper turkey breast. SO good and a nice change from regular ole turkey.

We had originally planned to go to the zoo on Sunday, but immediately when I went to pick up Jack Sunday morning I knew he had a fever. He had slept great through the night and was playing and (eating) as usual so I think it may be his teeth. Between the fever and the sudden heat wave, we decided to save the zoo for next weekend. If I wanted to go to the zoo in the summer I would have. Come on fall!

Not wanting to be too big of a warm weather downer, we headed to our favorite Mexican place along with half our town. Although it took forever to get our food, Jack enjoyed feeding the fish and Ben got his drink on (don't worry it's a virgin twss).

After lunch we came home and carved pumpkins. I attempted to paint mine, but ran out of paint so I'll have to post a picture later this week. Don't worry though, it's going to be awesome.

Jack was both terrified and bored of the whole process.

Thankfully Ben (with my help) and daddy love carving pumpkins and I think they turned out pretty great.
Ben painted that little pumpkin for his brother. And even though it's quite terrifying to look at, it's sweet he gave it to Jack, evil red eyes and all.

Did any of you have record temperatures this weekend?
