While You All Were Boating & BBQing...

We were moving the final boxes and fixing up the last little things in our old house until the wee hours of the morning on both Saturday and Sunday. Ugh. Next year I'm planning on having a much more festive Memorial Day. But as of today everything is wrapped up and all that's left now is for a new family to make lots of memories in the years to come.

Now that we can focus all of our effort into the new house, I can't wait to get things going around here. We have lots we want to get done this Summer including refinishing and staining the deck, adding a fence, building the kids a play structure, and maybe starting a garden. Not to mention all the not so fun things like organizing closets and making sure I get all the laundry caught up so we have some underwear to wear.

Here's what else we've been up to in pictures...

My dad had surgery the same week we moved (I'm convinced he planned that on purpose). Ben helped him with his daily walk down the hall. He's home now and ate ribs with us yesterday for lunch so I'd say he's pretty recovered.

Instead of packing the night before we moved, I spent it in the ER with Jack after he slipped in the bathtub and busted his chin requiring stitches.

What everyone wants to see on moving day. Although it rained for a little while, by the time the movers were ready to unload our stuff it was barely sprinkling.

Getting a trailer stuck in our yard and the battle wound on my leg from when I tried to stop it from going all the way into the woods.

For some reason I felt so much better when the kitchen was unpacked and organized.

Helping daddy put brother's new bed together.

And last but not least, one of the best things about our new house is that it's about 5 minutes from the new Dunkin Donuts that opened in town. People went bananas you guys. Lines everywhere.

Jack gives the glazed munchkins his seal of approval. And in case you're wondering, 2 munchkins is not enough for this kid. Neither is 4.

And although I've haven't been blogging, I have been keeping up on your lives! I can't wait to get back into the swing of things and blog more often as well as comment on all the fabulous things you all have been posting.

Easiest Boot Storage EVER! {No more floppy top}

This simple trick for storing your boots is so simple, it almost doesn't need a tutorial. almost.

Now that the warmer weather is here to stay, it's time to finally pack away those heavy winter boots. But year after year I have to deal with the "floppy top" which can leave boots in less than perfect condition come next fall. But have no fear! NO MORE FLOPPY TOP!

Here's what you need:
-knife
-pool noodle (1 noodle per pair of boots)

That's it! Told you it was easy.

Before. Sad, floppy boots.

Start by laying one boot on the floor with the noodle parallel to it.

Cut the noodle just under the top of the boot. I didn't want to see the noodle once it was in the boot.

Slide the noodle into the boot and you're done.

I did 4 pairs in less than 5 minutes and that was with a 6 year old helper who insisted he needed to cut the pool noodles. In his defense, it's pretty fun to do.

Now go get rid of those floppy tops!

Life + Mother's Day Recap

Happy Monday!

I want to start off by sharing that we closed on our house on Friday and couldn't be happier to officially own what plans on being our forever home. We move this upcoming Friday and are very excited to start making it our own. The home is practically brand new so no big changes right away, but we definitely have a running list of things we'd like/need to do. And don't worry, I'll be blogging everything along the way so stay tuned for lots of before and after pictures!

When I picked Ben up from school Friday they had a manicure and pedicure station set up for the kids to do our nails. Ben did one and was over it, but man does my big toe look good.

Saturday morning was the usual donuts and we stopped by some garage sales. One of J's clients had a big event both Friday evening and Saturday so he spent lots of time helping with that which meant a frozen pizza picnic while watching Frozen.

While the kids repeated every.single.line I attempted to put boxes together and get some things packed, which is nearly impossible when this little goober insists on playing in the boxes.

Sunday we went to an early lunch with my family (where I failed to take any pics with my mom) and enjoyed the beautiful weather before the thunderstorms rolled in.

I'm declaring the Moscow Mule my official summer drink. So light and refreshing.

Despite his best efforts, Jack just couldn't get settled in for a nap so we all snuggled on the couch while the rain came in. We had plans to travel to see J's family, but didn't want to risk it with the storms, which ended up being nothing.

And when the rain finally stopped, my boys continued with their yearly Mother's Day tradition of planting new flowers in the flower pots.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Linking up with Biana for Weekending.

Happy Mother's Day

Just wanted to pop in and wish all the mom's out there a happy happy Mother's Day! It's also important to remember those longing to become a mom as well as those whose mom's are no longer with them. This day can be tough so take a moment to let them know you're thinking of them.

We're spending the day with both my mom, and J's mom and grandma and of course these crazy boys who make motherhood challenging and wonderful all at the same time.

Weekend Recap

I can't believe it's May and that we close on our new house in 5 DAYS!!!! If you're thinking about it, could you please say a little prayer that it goes smoothly and in these next 5 days all hell doesn't break loose? Once everything's official and we have the keys in our hands I'll fill you in with the details on what's been going on throughout this process.

I've been rocking these Nike's that I found at a garage sale for... $3. The lady wore them twice. TWICE! This is the first garage sale pair of shoes I've purchased for myself. Although I'm no Kilee when it comes to thrifting, I'm pretty proud of these. *As with all thrifted/used items, make sure to give anything a good clean in the washing machine before wearing.

After a long Friday, Chipotle was a no-brainer choice for dinner.

I also worked on end of the year teacher gifts for Ben's school. Although I've loved serving on the PTSO, I'll be glad when school's over.

Saturday afternoon/evening I attended this lovely blogger's wedding. If I had one word to sum up the day, it would be details, details, details. I know she's going to be sharing all of the little touches she incorporated into her big day. Rachel looked beautiful, but I'll wait to post a pic until she does, in the meantime, I wore my new striped skirt from old navy.

One thing I love about weddings is that everyone comes together for the day. I got to hang out with girlfriends that I haven't seen in forever, especially since one of them lives in Norway. No matter how long it's been, it's nice to be with friends who just get ya, ya know? After the wedding we headed to a favorite college hangout spot and caught up over some drinks before the reception.

All the way from Norway...

My friends Sarah and Ali are identical twins. And yes, I can tell them apart. Very easily actually.

Sunday morning was a little rough, but these cinnamon rolls made for an easy breakfast. Have you all tried these Rhodes frozen rolls? WAY better than the Pillsbury kind.

J and Ben went to see the new Avengers movie while Jack crashed hard on the couch and woke up with this awesome bead head.

I wrapped up the weekend by finishing the last of my gifts for the kids' teachers and working on a little anniversary present for J which I'll share after our anniversary, which happens to be tomorrow.
(all these printables were free and found on Pintrest)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
